can anyone comment on whether bethel is laying people off?
as in, sending folks out of bethel to go pioneer somewhere?
i have heard rumors but would like more detail.
Sir82: My guess would be yes. With Brooklyn shutting down and the printery downsizing. there's a TON of support people that they aren't going to need.
if so, please email me at [email protected] - i need your help!.

Hey while we're looking for old WT articles, what's the date on the one that says the preaching work would be over by the end of the 20th century?

Post 2001, the US Branch has been shrinking. Since we all suspect that donations are at an all time low, it makes sense to shrink the numbers worldwide. There's a few things they've done to do this.
1) Not bring in any new Bethelites. There's always been a churn at Bethel. Guys that do their 1 year and leave, guys that get married and leave, etc. The problem is that there was no lack of replacements. Now they don't bring in new people for months at a time.
2)MTS and Giliead. In years past if a person wanted to attend either school, they had to leave Bethel, apply, and hope they get in. Obviously no one in a position to attend either school would want to leave Bethel, so they changed that rule. As soon as that happened, there were a ton of applicants. A great way to thin the numbers.
3) "Lay-off" people. They definitely re-assigned a lot of people to special pioneering. It wasn't necessarily bad workers though. It was sort of an unspoken rule at Bethel that after doing a manual job for so long you'd eventually get an office job. By that time the brother is probably an elder and maybe a Bethel elder. So that leads to too many chiefs (in made up positions). Most of the people I know whom were sent home fit this bill. They are still in the Religious Order and get a stipend. I don't know how much it is. I've never asked one because it's generally impolite to talk about money. I'm sure someone here knows.
from the guys who brought us the asl masturbation mash-ups and some other good jw photoshops, here's another great thread in the making.
this time it's a parody of the memorial invitations.
the forums is public so you shouldn't have to login to see it.. .

Roberta: They've put that info about the draft every year for as long as I can remember, at least 20 years.
found this on a pro jw website .
is this what they are telling the witnesseskelly wallaceyou realise bethel in brooklyn new york are selling up the buildings and moving.
you know why- they realised come the great tribulation they are too exposed.
subytrek: the planned firesale and move was started way before the hurricane, so that's not a factor. It's a purely financial move. Bethelites in Brooklyn cost the WTBS twice as much as do their walkill and patterson counterparts. Factor in other higher costs from being in NYC and you can see why it's a smart long term strategy. Plus they can flip all those building for insane profits and make more dough. The labor for the new buildings is virtually free. It's a gigantic cost saving measure. I actually feel bad for the bethelites that like NYC. It's freakin boring in Wallkill and Patterson.
can someone point me to a searchable pdf version of this?.
hey hamster can you get the exact page number? I went to that page and it doesn't talk about the great tribulation at all.
